Lake Abert Landscape Painting

Lake Abert is located about 17 miles north of the town of Lakeview. Covering about 60 square miles, it is one of the largest lakes in Oregon. With no outlet, the water is concentrated with salts and hosts a large population of Brine Shrimp. This makes it an ideal location to observe a variety of water birds that stop to feed during their fall migration. The view along this lightly travelled section of US 395 is magnificently desolate. I was ready for the 1950's movie type space ship to touch down at any moment!

Catherine Creek State Park

This stretch of Catherine Creek is one of the nicest places in the entire Grande Ronde Valley to be on a hot summer day. Located about ten miles from the historic town of Union, the deep shaded forest and the cool waters of this oasis made an inviting subject for this eastern Oregon Landscape painting.
